Haertel Field was recently renovated for use by Carroll University's student-athletes and the community. The field, located southwest of the campus on Newhall Avenue, was acquired by Carroll from the city of Waukesha in 2013.
The updates to the facility included the addition of new synthetic turf and a scoreboard, construction of a lighted pathway from the university to the field, a team center with team meeting space, restrooms and concession area, a pavilion, bleachers, restrooms and team event and equipment storage areas.
The field is a practice facility for Carroll's lacrosse, football and soccer teams. The university will continue to work with the community and make the field available for youth football programs, the city's school district and other groups.
Carroll received a $3,000 grant from the Green Bay Packers Foundation as well as a $30,000 community development block grant from Waukesha County to help pay for the project.
